27 Oct Entrepreneurs: Here’s What To Do If You’re Spending Too Much Time Working
There’s no denying that entrepreneurs work longer hours than employees. As business owners, they have to spend more time managing their firm and dealing with things. As a result, they seldom spend enough quality time with their families.
And, as for time off to go and do fun things like having a vacation? You could bet that rarely happens! On a serious note, spending too much time working can have a negative impact on your life.
Does that paint a familiar picture? If so, here are some ideas to help you work less and enjoy your life more:
Force yourself to have regular breaks
It’s likely you will spend most of your day sat behind a computer screen. As a result, you can do damage to your health. You’ll know when you spend too much time on your computer. For example, you’ll suffer from headaches, exhaustion and have vision problems.
That’s why you need to make yourself take a break on a regular basis. Are you a stickler for routine? If so, make yourself have a break at particular times in the day. At lunchtime, give yourself at least a 30-minute break.
Delegate tasks to other people
Do you have some employees working for you? If so, get them to handle some of your tasks. As long as they are relevant to their jobs, of course!
Don’t be one of those people that has to do everything themselves. Let other people help you out so that you have a lower workload. You might even find that some people can show you how to complete certain tasks in a more efficient way!
Outsource some of your work
Do you find that you have to carry out some repetitive tasks all the time? If so, why not hire someone to do them for you? Outsourcing is a cost-effective way of getting tasks completed. You also don’t have to worry about employee overheads like insurance with freelancers.
There are thousands of outsourcing providers out there. Just find out that best meets your needs. Remember: work smarter, not harder!
Is your business consuming you? If so, you should step back and decide whether all the work is worth it. Chances are, you could do another project that isn’t so involving.
In those cases, the best thing to do is sell your business and use the proceeds to fund your new project. All you have to do is find a business broker to help you put it up for sale.
Yes, you are firing yourself from your business. But, if it means spending more time with your family and having more fun, it’s worth it.
Don’t work on weekends and public holidays
It’s rare to find an entrepreneur that doesn’t work seven days a week. But, you need to have a better work-life balance. Otherwise, your personal life will suffer. And there’s no point having a business if you can’t share your success with anyone!
That’s why you should make it a rule not to work on weekends and public holidays. You’ll then have the time to spend on other aspects of your life, such as your family!
